Keep this close
A storm checklist made for the fridge and your phone.
Simple steps for the weeks before hurricane season, the days before a storm, and the first hours after it passes.

Print one copy for the fridge, and keep one on your phone.
Before June 1
- 01Walk every room with your phone, including closets and garage. Open drawers and cabinets as you go.
- 02Photograph serial numbers on TVs, appliances and tools. Photograph the house from all four sides.
- 03Save everything to cloud storage or email it to yourself.
- 04Write down the policy number and claims phone number for your homeowners, wind, flood and auto policies (every client gets a wallet card from us with all of them), and put copies of your declarations pages in a zip-top bag in your go-bag.
When a storm is coming
- 01Move cars to higher ground.
- 02Take papers and valuables upstairs or with you.
- 03Record a quick video walk-through of the house.
After the storm
- 01Call us or the claims line from wherever you are.
- 02Photograph and video the damage before cleanup, including water lines on the walls.
- 03Keep damaged items until the adjuster sees them, or photograph them with a tape measure beside them.
- 04Save receipts for tarps, fans, a generator and a hotel.
- 05Make only the repairs needed to stop more damage.
Who to call, in order
Keep these numbers together.
- Us, at (228) 555-0129
- Your flood company's claims line
- Your wind or homeowners claims line
- Your mortgage company
- Your county emergency management office for shelters and road closures
Flood and wind are separate claims. We help you sort out which damage belongs to which.
